Cannot use the TickerPoint menu.
Make sure that you are using the ticker shapes on the slide master of your presentation. Tickers are not bound to a specific slide but the run for the complete slide show. For that reason you have to declare everything on the slide master.
Click View > Master > Slide master to go there.
