On the main dashboard of wordpress, select page from the left hand side of the page.

Add new, then create a title for your page in title box, insert content into content box, and select Parent if the page is to be a child page otherwise leave blank.  Parent pages are main pages and child pages are subpages of parent pages. For example a parent page could be called ‘Vegetables’ and the child pages could be ‘Lettuce’ or ‘Carrots’. There are also grandchild pages that can be created which would be sub pages of the child pages such as ‘Romaine’, ‘Iceberg’ or ‘Round’.

By selecting template style it will change the basic layout of the page to fit the screen depending on the preinstalled template used.

TIP!….If copying text from another site which may have been formatted into a particular style eg into a table, to deformat so the text will appear as normal in the contents bar, copy text into a Notepad doc, then copy and paste from the Notepad doc into the contents bar. The text will now appear as a standard layout as in Word. Repeat as necessary with content and titles.

Inserting images into the content section is easy too. Save the image onto the hard drive of your computer as a JPEG file. Select the ‘Upload or Insert’ icon from the icons situated between the contents and title bars. A new window will open. Select ‘From Computer’ which will open a dropbox enabling you to browse your computer hard drive for the desired image. Select the relevant image and upload. Once the image has uploaded, create a title for the image, an alternate text which will appear when the image is hovered over and is great for SEO, a caption which will display underneath the image, select where you want the image to be positioned and its sizing, and press ‘Insert into Post’. This will place the image in the body of the text. Remember to save all changes.

It is also possible to upload  images from the media library and from other URLs. In order to do this, you would need to select ‘From URL’ or ‘From Media Library’ instead of choosing ‘From Computer’.
