Creating a Post

From the Left of the Dashboard, select ‘Posts’ and ‘Add new’. Complete the Post title and Content in the same way that you would for a page.

Featured Image

Featured images will be a main image with a summarised text next to it (text may say Read more after the summary). They can be created by uploading an image as above and instead of choosing ‘Insert into Post’, select ‘Use as featured Image’. Featured images will always show on a post even when the post is summarised and can be inserted into a post so that when the post is opened, the image is visible. If the post is mentioned elsewhere on the site, depending on the theme, the featured image will be shown where it is mentioned.

Add Featured images and Tags to enhance your posts. See below for information on how to do this. It is important for Posts to be categorized so that we can find them on the site and check they are in the correct place. At the bottom of the post, in the Categories section, select an existing category or create a new one by selecting ‘Add New Category’. Save all changes. On the Left hand side of the dash board, select Posts and Categories

Tags

Tags are great for SEO and are created using words and phrases similar to the website name and content eg a shoe shop may use the tags ‘ sandals Birmingham, wedges Birmingham, boots Birmingham’. At the bottom of the post, there is a section for adding tags. Separate tags with commas.
