IMPORTANT Manual Update of .XunityTalk Repository Urgently Needed for all our XBMC box users

IMPORTANT Manual Update of .XunityTalk Repository Urgently Needed for all our XBMC box users

IMPORTANT UPDATES PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Note that if your new box was shipped to you from us after today's date (12th November 2014) then there is no need for any of the following procedures as it is already fully up-to-date and set up correctly for you.

It appears from reading the XunityTalk forums, here at http://www.xunitytalk.com/forum.php (a recommended forum site to use), that they apparently have been blocked by Google and thus this important update to their repository from version 1.0.1 to 1.0.3 (or later) will not have happened automatically, nor will it, as it would have normally done.  So it is very important that you carry out the procedures below to manually update the .XunityTalk Repository.  Once completed then it will auto update, many of your installed add-ons (see list below), like ExPAtTV add-on from the defunct version 3.3.2 to 3.3.3 (Now Ver 3.3.6 or later), which will then work as before (still as of V 3.3.6 ITV1 does not work though, but all the other channels are fine).

So great news that we will have back our favourite ExPAtTV add-on and be able to use the new BBC iPlayer add-on with it's built in generic Proxy Server option for those of us outside of the UK.   First you need to carefully follow step by step the instructions below to manually update the .XunityTalk Repository to V 1.0.3. or later.  It may sound a bit daunting but with care and attention it is not too difficult at all and should be easy enough even for the non technical amongst you to follow.   So here goes and good luck.

1.  With XBMC in the main blue Home Screen select System at the far right of the horizontal main menu bar.  (NOTE Please ensure you are connected to your modem and the internet before you start.  Having the correct date and time showing top right confirms that you are connected to your router.  If that is okay just check that you can run up say IceFilms or ITV player to confirm your internet connection is good.)

2.  Go down one click with the down arrow button on your remote and highlight Settings and click on it using your remote's OK button as normal.

3. You will now be in the main Confluence - Change Your Settings screen.

4. In the left hand column select the Add-ons option and click on it and you will have a simple list of various options.

5. First go to the "Get Add-ons" option and click.  From the list of installed add-on repositories highlight the top one called .XunityTalk Repository and note the version number showing in the right hand window.

6. If the version number is already 1.0.3 or later which is most unlikely, then no further action is required so simply use the return button and go back to your home screen and enjoy your box.

7.  Go back one step using the Return button on your remote and now select the "Install From Zip" option from the list.  It is the option after the "Get Add-ons" option that you used in step 5 above.

8.  From the right hand panel's list of sources select the top option .Xfinity Installer and click on it with your OK button.

9. You will be presented with a list of installable options and some category headings too, but all you need do is select the XunityTalk Repository.zip option and click on it.

10 Watch the bottom right hand corner of your screen and you will see after a minute of so a message saying that this updated repository in now enabled.

11. Without doing anything more you will see messages confirming several important add-on auto updates have taken place now we have the new fully working updated .XunityTalk Repository V 1.0.3 (or later) installed.  This will importantly include ExPat TV and many others installed on your system (see list below of add-ons affected).

12. You will be back in the list of options with the "Get Add-ons" option available as you saw in Step 4, so click on that option and you should see as in Steps 5 and 6 that you now have the new version 1.0.3 (or later) of the .XunityTalk Repository.  So the important auto updates of many of the add-ons we originally pre-installed for you (see list below of those affected) can now take place again as they used to.

13 Your task is now completed (it wasn't too hard was it!) and all you need do now is hit the return button a few times as normal to return to your home screen.  It is good practice to reboot at this stage before using your box and enjoying it now hopefully fully working again.

14.  Now you can check and see that the popular ExPatTV add-on is fully back working again. Note that you should also find that several other of your installed add-ons that may have been playing up recently, are now back working properly again.  For example I noticed that the Football Replays add-on is now working with Gotham 13.x firmware on the ATV1200 boxes for the first time.  All good news indeed :-)

Please see the other articles in this "Known Issues" support section regarding ExPatTV and the original BBC iPlayer add-ons for updated info on them and some maybe needed instructions for setting them up on your box for correct usage.

If you do not feel confident to carry out the above procedures (or indeed any other updates and changes) yourself, then if you prefer for a small charge of £30, to cover our costs and return registered airmail shipping, you can arrange with us to return your box to Ray for carrying out these updates for you.  He will also make any other needed updates and generally tidy up your boxes system too.  Note that to keep shipping costs down, we only need the box itself not the power supply or remote or anything else.  You should email him at ray@iplayerproxy4u.com to make any such arrangements first.

Ray

For you information the following video add-ons that we ship pre-installed with our magic boxes will most likely not be auto updated if you do not carry out the above step by step procedure:

Disney Junior
ExPatTV
FilmOn
Football Replays
iStream
ITV iPlayer
Motor Sports (Replays) - though this has been not working for a while now.
Much Movies
Not FilmOn
Simply Movies
Super Replays
XBMCONNECT Tutorials

Also in Program add-ons group :-
.iStreams Installer
.Xunity Maintenance

As you can see it is quite a big list and why the above procedure is so important.

16/11/2014 Update   If you have already carried out this procedure prior to 16th and now have V1.0.2, you will need to rerun it for a newer XunityTalk Repository V1.0.3 as it still will not auto update to this version as we believe they have moved servers again to circumvent blocking.  If you have not already carried out the main task above then you should do so straight away and you will be the brought right up to date whatever the latest version may then be.  Simply repeat the step by step procedure as above, it only takes a minute or two and it will than auto update add-ons like ExPatTV now on version 3.3.6.  which is fully working again.

Sorry for the inconvenience but this is totally beyond our control !!

17/11/2014 XfintyTalk server blocked and down again :-(  Wait for further news right here before trying above update procedure as it will as of today fail again at step 9.

18/11/2014  Good news.  XFinityTalk server is back up and online again, fingers crossed it will stay up now with any luck.  Well done to Mikey1234 and all at Xfinity for their hard work and perseverance :-) Whilst it is still up you can carry out the above update step by step procedure again if you still need too.  I notice we are still on .XfinityTalk repository version 1.0.3 so if you have that already no need to repeat the procedure.
