Assignment Settings - Time Limits on Assessments

Edcite assignments can have a time limit added which will submit the student's work after a specified amount of time. The amount of time a student spent on an assignment and each question is available with or without the time limit feature turned on. That data can be accessed in the summary report.

To add a time limit to an assignment, navigate to the specific assignment editor (available from "My Assignments") and open the assignment settings as shown in the picture below.

From there, navigate to the "Student View" section, checkbox next to "Enable Time Limit," and set the number of minutes you would like the students to have on the assignment. You have to set a specific number of minutes to turn on a time limit.

Turning on the time limit and setting the amount of minutes will show the students a timer in the top right corner of their page that counts down. It will also give them a warning at the 50% of time and 80% of time and give them a warning with how many minutes they have left.
If you would like to have a timer that counts up instead of down, you can check box "Show Elapsed Time to Students" which will start the time at zero and count up towards the time limit. This setting will also remove the warnings about how much time is left. You can select to show elapsed time without setting a time limit if you want unlimited minutes but time shown to students.

Once the time limit has run out, a student's assignment will be submitted with whatever work they have completed at that point. Students that save and pause their assignment will have the timer paused where it left off.

Additional notes for premium Edcite Schools users
For schools and districts setting accommodations for student groups, you can set the timer for that group of students to be 600 minutes (or any high number of minutes) and count up to essentially give them unlimited time. The timer set for a student group's accommodation will always override the timer set by the teacher on that assignment to ensure a student's IEP is implemented with fidelity.

For schools and districts using the unsubmit feature on an assessment, that will reset the student's time when they open the assessment again.
