            Creating and saving projects

Creating projects is an invaluable tool for understanding your mission field.

To begin, click the 'Projects' button on the control panel.

There are three types of project shapes that you can draw on your map: Polygon, Rectangle, and Circle.

            • Polygon

When you select the polygon button seen above, your cursor will turn into a crosshair when hovering over the map. Click anywhere on the map to begin drawing a shape around the area you would like to filter. A polygon can have many sides and is great for pinpointing an exact area. Once you are done, click on the first point you created to close the polygon. You must close the polygon before moving on to the next steps. Once it is closed, you can move any of the existing corners by grabbing and moving the white dots. The grey dots in between the white dots can also be clicked to create a new corner which can also be manipulated. You can also move your cursor to the middle of the shape and then click and drag the shape to move it on the map.

            • Rectangle

When you select the rectangle button seen above, a pre-sized rectangle will appear on your map. Grab the white dots in the corners or edges and move them to adjust the size of the rectangle. You can also move your cursor to the middle of the shape and then click and drag the shape to move it on the map.

            • Circle

When you select the circle button seen above, a pre-sized circle will appear on your map. Drag the white dot on the edge of the circle outward to increase or inward to decrease the size of the circle. You will notice that there will be a white box to the side of the dot that shows the current radius of the circle. This can be useful when trying to get a profile for a radiating area around a central location such as a church building. Just remember that it is showing the radius which is only half the diameter. To get the value of the diameter just double the radius. You can also move your cursor to the middle of the shape and then click and drag the shape to move it on the map.

You can use multiple shapes in a single project. As you add shapes, you will see shapes appear on the control panel under the shape selection buttons. To delete one of the shapes, click the corresponding shape on the control panel.

Click the checkbox next to 'Only show households in project area' to limit the households on your map to just the project area that you have created.

When you are done making changes to your project and you are ready to save, click the blue 'SAVE' button on the control panel.

A box will open up over your map called 'Save new project as'. Fill out the name, description, and date for your project. Click the 'Save' button when you are done. If you want to cancel saving the project, you can click the blue 'X' in the top right corner of this box.
